Some kids really do have something to say

Sometimes a school will have a topic they’d like pursued, but often they leave it to the students.

On more than one occasion students have come out with heart wrenching topics.

One such song was in a Darwin school where a favourite teacher had recently passed away.  It was amazing to be in the room as the students described the teacher, what he meant to them, and then managed to sing the song for the recording.

Despite the sad circumstances involved in the writing, the students were proud to perform this song with the staff and principal, each other and his family.

Also In Ramingining the young men aged 12- 15 wrote a great song “Stay Free” encouraging people keep their freedom and dignity by respecting culture and the Laws of both Yolngu and the Commonwealth.

Their have been many songs and stories that speak into the communities and cultures for which they are written.
